My Back Story

I wasn’t always the confidant, determined and driven gal I am today but hard work, amazing mentors and my very own cheer squad are a big reason for my success. A high school dropout at 17 with no streets paved with gold led to the reality of going to work in order find myself while earning $5.25 per hour. From grocery cashier to retail manager, nothing quite fit until I was I told I could charter my own course. It would be 10 years before I dropped back into school which proved to be an amazing experience. 10 years of college, working full-time and doing a halftime internship was my first greatest accomplishment.

I kicked ass, took names and made a name for myself in the New York tri-state area.

Professionally I’m a licensed Social Worker who spent the last 15 years as a non-profit Director, board member on another and an Administrator in Behavioral Health. I was also an Adjunct Professor for State University of New York on the weekends and in between years I taught hebrew school to children with special needs. To say life was boring would be the understatement of a lifetime. You may be asking yourself how a Social Worker became a business guru. In retrospect I didn’t choose Social Work for altruistic reasons but it was a good program which awarded credit for work experience. Throughout my career, I’ve I had amazing mentors and supervisors who let me sow my professional oats provided I did my job. So I networked A LOT and soaked in all I could. I signed up for every workshop, class and professional development opportunity available. Of course at the same time, I realized I didn’t choose social work but rather it chose me. I was seeing how my impact on individuals was literally changing both our lives and it’s then I realized I truly was a change agent. My clinical experience coupled with my business acumen has enabled me to meet the unique needs of my clients from two very different perspectives.

The daughter of a teacher and natural speaker myself, it wasn’t long before I was sought out to present at local, state and then national conferences. I worked hard and halfway through my graduate degree I launched LE Consulting as a side gig. From grant writing to operations; talent acquisition to corporate compliance, I did it all. I wrote curriculums and trained the big guys such as NYPD, NYS Department of Health and the NYC Administration for Children’s Services. After 9/11 struck just miles from where I lived I joined the NYC Med Reserves and later served on the disaster response team for my employer, specifically in the area of psychosocial first aid. In 2007 I traveled with a friend to New Orleans for post Katrina cleanup. Sleeping on the floor of a church for a week in Gulfport Mississippi was one of the most humbling experiences of my life. It’s also that trip which solicited our friendship. In 2010 I expanded LE Consulting to include small business owners and life coaching and have worked with some amazing entrepreneurs and emerging leaders. I eliminated my last paid position when over the span of five years, I saved the facility where I worked over four million dollars in previously non-reimbursed expenses and taught them everything I knew about the specific population, which I served. Leaving this position was very difficult as it had truly given me so much. The experiences I had, the things I learned and the people who supported me are forever engrained within me.

On a personal level, determined to be a mother, I adopted my first child as a single woman.
Born in my heart, I traveled to China in 2008 with my mother in tow to be united with my daughter and become a family of two. Wanting to thank the universe for this precious gift, I formed a non-profit organization in my living room in 2010. In 2011, I married and subsequently relocated to Central Florida, became a first time homeowner and gave birth to my second daughter at 41. The rest is history and I haven’t looked back. My story is an integral part of who I am today and where I’m headed tomorrow. I hope you’ll join me for the journey.
